 In 2023, China was already constructing 180 GW of solar power and 159 GW of wind power capacity. According to data from GEM (Global Energy Monitor), the combined capacity of these projects is more than twice the total capacity under construction in the rest of the world combined, and sufficient to supply electricity to the entire nation of South Korea (as noted in the official report).

 Between March 2023 and March 2024, China installed more solar power capacity than it had in the previous three years combined. This unprecedented growth trend is expected to continue in the coming years, further solidifying China’s dominance in the renewable energy sector.
